the other day we were playing outside (for the first time in several days b/c both little people have been not 100%) when ian hurts his hand on the rocks (small scrape, but it's on the hand and those are a pain in the butt-especially with this dry weather!). we go inside and get a bandaid. he tells me "my want nack (snack). yogurt waisins make my hand feel better" {note: i had already told him he didn't need a snack b/c we were going to have lunch}.
ian makes me feel like super mom sometimes. some days all he wants to wear are his lightening mcqueen pajamas. i like to play dress up with my kids so i don't necessarily want him wearing the same thing everyday. my solution: tell him they are dirty (not always a lie-he wears them often enough that i don't always have them clean!). he's perfectly fine with this answer. but when they are clean and i get them out for him to wear....my goodness, you'd think i just hung the moon. "they not dirry anymore. mommy cleaned them!!!!!" this goes for cups, plates, forks, spoons, socks, shirts, etc-you name it. i am the hero when it comes to getting things clean! yay!!!! (don't be fooled-our house is usually only completely clean when we are expecting company!)
my 14 month old knows to say "please" and "thank you" without being prompted. i think that deserves a big old pat on the back. ;)
of course this blog is here for me to brag on my kids. it's why people blog, right? well-it's annoying when someone is bragging and saying that they don't like to brag. however, it's true. i don't like to brag on myself. i will brag on my kids all day long though (but not in that annoying 'my kids are better than your kids' kind of way. or in that 'oh your kid does that? yeah, my kid does that, too.' kind of way.) i mainly do this b/c i want grandparents/great grandparents/aunts/uncles/cousins/anyone who loves my kids to know them. since we are far away, sadly, a lot of people aren't really going to get the opportunity to KNOW our kids. this is my way of keeping those people in the loop. read it or not-it doesn't phase me much. i just want those who want to know these things to know them!
ian really is the funnest little boy. i know this age is so exciting and fun b/c they have learned so much! it just baffles us daily on the things this boy can come up with. a few nights ago-justin and i took the kids to golden corral (jealous?). cecilia ate the entire time. she's an eater now (she's no olivia though!!!). ian, eh-well ian picked at his food. i made the mistake of telling him that if he ate really well he could have a cookie or ice cream or some kind of sweet yummy goodness. so anyway, dessert time rolls around and justin goes to get a few things. he came back with some cookies and a muffin. ian said he wanted the muffin, but we told him he had to eat more of his dinner. he picks. and finally he earns dessert. justin had gotten a cookie for him, and i brought him a rice crispie treat. he put the cookie on top of the rice crispie treat and smiled at us and said "my have a muffin!" he made his own muffin...brilliant!
ian is incredibly good at spotting out airplanes and helicopters in the sky. we really don't have many trees to block the sky, so it's pretty open and it's pretty impressive how they can find them. yesterday in the car he said "look at that big airplane!" so i looked around and noticed the clouds in front of us really did look like an airplane!!! i asked him if that's what he meant and he nodded bashfully! brilliant!
cecilia says so much. such a good communicator for as young as she is. at this age, we were still relying a lot on signs for ian to really communicate with us. she says "mii" (milk), "waawaa" (water), "pease" (please), "thathu" (thank you), "molly", "hi molly", "hi momma", "hi dadda", "ba" (bath), "showw" (shower), she lets us know when she wants to sing a song and starts to sing it (in her own little way!), she tries to say about everything we ask her to. she will show her teeth-cutest thing in the entire world. she crinkles her little nose-so super cute! she is so super animated. i want to keep her in my pocket for forever! love this angel gorgeous baby of ours!
cecilia is now a daddy's girl. she loves her daddy. in turn, i have become ian's best friend again. i love children and how God works. when i was (unexpectantly) pregnant with cecilia and ian was just a weeee little 6 month old when we found out, i was {happy/elated, yet} a little devastated (i hate even saying that, but i'm being honest). justin and i always knew we wanted more kids, but just didn't think #2 would come so quickly! i was sad for ian b/c i thought that we weren't going to be able to have him be our "baby" as long as he should have been and wouldn't get the attention he deserved.... pshhhh. who was i kidding? we were living with justin's parents until ian was 8 months old. he got tons of attention! from me, from justin, from his family. then justin left for training and we moved to columbus. ian got tons more attention! from me. from my parents. from my sister. from more family. that boy was not lacking in the attention department at all! then our sweet amazing angel girl came into this world. i was emotional/sad/happy/thrilled going into be induced. i was sad that it was going to be the last time i could 100% devote myself to ian. he was everything! i was thrilled b/c i was now going to be able to have another baby to love! ian was almost 14 months old (the same age cecilia is now!). but here's the amazing part. ian went from living in columbus with lots of people there to give him extra attention, then with the same attention-but with a baby sister involved, to moving to arizone and having only justin, me and cecilia (with justin working full time). he adapted beautifully. this new baby took up time, but not a lot b/c she was such an easy baby! so. easy! i had to feed her, change her, hug her, love her. justin and i went from worrying that ian wouldn't get enough attention when the new baby came to wondering if ceci got enough attention! ....jump ahead 13 months later-cecilia has clung to me like no other. (mainly due to the fact that i was still nursing...)(oh and i absolutely LOVED her loving me the way she did....the feeling was quite mutual!) ian knew he was still my world. cecilia was just in that world, too! both of them were my world! (justin is obviously included in all these repetitive "my world" statements...) but now that ceci isn't nursing she doesn't need me in the same way. {this is the part that i think is so amazingly neat} she loves me, i'm her mommy. but now that she doesn't need me the way she did-she has clung to her daddy and ian is back to me! ian still says "daddy my best friend" :) i'm sure they will phase in and out, but i just love this. so amazing...
what i was getting at with all of that is that i love how resiliant (sp?-too lazy to look it up right now...) children are. i love how they aren't phased. i love how they know that their mommy's (and daddy's) love them unconditionally. there is no other love that compares. these two angels are our world. (and i must admit that i'm kind of obsessed.....).
