{happy texas day!}

{warning, my blogger is being difficult and i don't have the patience to put all the pictures up today....sorry!}

happy march everyone!!!

we had a great visit from my parents! it's always not long enough. justin and i had the chance to go see a movie and i got to spend some time shopping with my mom (during naps of course b/c she wouldn't risk wasting any 'awake' time away from them!) we were pretty lazy and just enjoyed each other's company. on friday when they saw each other, my mom asked ian what he wanted to do while they were here and he said "peter piper pizza and go to the creek", so of course we did those things while they were here.

after battling not feeling good-both kids are healthy and sleeping through the night again (that one was mainly directed towards cecilia, who wanted to party with nana during the night while she was here) yesterday both kids took over 3 hour naps and today i thought ian was apparently not going to take one at all. i think i may have mentioned before that he has taken his diaper/pull up off at nap time. he doesn't do it everyday, but i'd say about once a week this is happening. this little boy doesn't want to wear diapers anymore. he just wants to wear his lightening pullups. well they aren't all the same picture on them. some of the lightenings are happy and smiling. some have this smug look on his face. the smug ones, according to ian, are the "mean lightenings" and he does NOT like to wear the mean lightenings. geez. another side note-justin and i have decided that we are going to not even mention the potty for a week or two (since he puts up such an incredible fight when we do) and then slowly just {try} to make it happen and potty train him. (that's our plan anyhow, we'll see how that goes).....however, today we were out of 'nice lightening' pullups and only had 'mean' ones. so he decided he wanted to wear his thomas underwear. he knows that if he wears his thomas underwear he has to go sit on the potty. he has 2 pottys (one that sits on the toilet and one that goes on the ground) so he made his choice and went. then he wore his underwear all morning. he peed once, then it was closing in on nap time so i put a pull up on him. it was the mean one. so that one ended up coming off when he got into his room (i could hear him jumping on his bed). so i went in there and told him he had to wear a diaper. so he let me put a diaper on him and i put his pants back on (to try to keep both things on). wrong again. a few minutes later he was yelling for me so i went in there and he had nothing on again. sigh. so then i remembered that maybe i had one in my diaper bag. wrong-it was a mean one. then i remembered that i had one in the back of my car. ding ding ding! it was a nice one. and now i do believe that little boy has fallen asleep wearing his 'nice lightening mcqueen' pullup.

cecilia is now the kid who is super happy all day long as long as she is fed. she can snack all day long. she has come a looooong way from the baby who wouldn't eat a thing. she's still somewhat picky, but she will stuff her face (literally) and eat until she gets distracted by something else. then if she sees someone else eating something, she says "pwease. bite" and nods her head as if to say, yes, that's what i'm saying, and yes that's what i want. my little booger angel is 15 months old today! big sigh. why won't time slow down? i can't say that i'm so incredibly super sad about it b/c it's so fun watching her learn and communicate with us. i look back and ian wasn't anywhere near as vocal as she is now. that's the advantage of having a brother so close in age i suppose! ian was really good at knowing all of his animals and even started knowing his colors at this age. we worked with him a lot. b/c he loved books and had no one (except itty bitty ceci) taking our attention away from him. ceci surprised me the other day (she's in the book stage right now and looooooves them!) and pulled out a book with animals in it and i asked her where the animals where and she pointed to each and every one of them! {super proud mommy moment!}. it's not that we don't try to teach her things, but now if we ask ceci where the zebra is, ian points to it first. we're at that stage and it's hard to discourage ian. so we don't. little did we know-our littlest sponge was just taking it all in. yay ceci! (she cheers for herself almost all the time and say "yay ceci!")

i think that's all i'm going to do today. both kids are out so i'm going to take advantage of the quietness! happy weekend everyone!!!!!
