{rant session}

tomorrow my sister is coming. tomorrow my sister is coming. TOMORROW MY SISTER IS COMING!!!!

so there's that! :)

cecilia must be cutting another tooth b/c she has become a very sad and dramatic little girl again. so sad. her poor hiney gets the brunt of teething. gets raw and it hurts her so bad. i feel horrible for her! she's been pretty ...off... the past couple of days. not sure if it's solely the teething or something else. i've been somewhat 'blah' the past couple days as well, so maybe we're feeling 'blah' together! she's been sleeping through the night for quite awhile now. when we first came back from texas and moved into this house, she would wake up in the middle of the night a few times and my pure exhaustion would just pull her into bed with us. but now she usually sleeps until 7:00am. sometimes earlier. rarely later. which is fine. i'm still nursing {the child is not going to let me quit. and i'm not fighting her too hard...} but only a couple times a day. occasionally at night. usually when she first wakes up (out of laziness on my part b/c i'm allowing myself a little bit longer to wake up). sometimes at other times. ha. the past 2 nights however, she has ended up in bed with us. pretty early on, too. i love snuggling with her. i don't love my stiff back the next morning b/c she has to be on top of me pretty much. i do know that i'll cherish these backaches forever!

so the other night, it was leftover night. we were sitting at the table and justin offered ceci some of his dinner. she wanted nothing to do with it (she has loved this in the past). so he pretty much makes her eat it (i can't say i've never done this either...). what a scene. geez. this little girl got her feelings hurt so badly that she couldn't eat anything else. {couldn't=wouldn't}. she was grubbin' down on her mac-n-cheese before hand, but this just ruined it for her. justin and i try different tactics with the kids to see what works. sometimes we console. sometimes we try to do the whole "well i know you're still little, but you need to learn that you have to try new things". depends on the day and the amount of defiance going on with each/both kid/s. it was awful. she cried. not a mad cry. not a frustrated cry. a super sad cry. her feelings were really hurt. such a girl! justin consoled, she calmed down, life was good again. until last night when i did the same thing. horrible. we even walked away after she got mad to see if she would stop due to the fact that she wasn't feeding off of us (it's possible that sometimes we find it ridiculous but try to hide our amusement, so we don't hurt their feelings even more). she was so sad-it was awful. my poor dramatic girl. i do hope she survives! ;)

ian is still doing good with the potty training (good, not great). for the most part, he stays dry and pees when we put him on the potty. sometimes he fights it so much! and he won't poop in there yet. i know it's a process, and i'm okay with that... but today was just straight up hilarious. normally he wears either his big boy underwear (only if he peed on the potty first) or his pull-ups. he wears a diaper at night though. normally nap time has become fun time. he hangs out in his bed for up to an hour sometimes until he gives up and falls asleep (by that time-he doesn't have any pillows, blankets, or stuffed animals in his bed). he repeats the stories we tell him, sings songs, yells, or jabbers away during that time in his room. today he was sort of yelling something out (i couldn't figure out what it was), so i just let him say what he was saying until he got tired and went to sleep. when he woke up, i went into his room. on the floor laid his: pillow, red blanket, airplane blanket, frosty, simba, dinosaur, turtle (as i'm typing this-maybe thats why the boy doesn't go to sleep-he has too many 'friends' in there with him!), seahorse, yellow pillow, red pillow.....aaaaaand his pull-up. i look at him sitting up in his bed and (knowing that he had just peed all over the bed) he said "my no wear pull-up to bed, my wear diaper {diapuh}".....so basically that's what he was telling me before he fell asleep. he took his pullup off b/c i put the wrong thing on him for nap time. {another note: all of the things in his bed are things he "has" to have in order to sleep....he requests them every night-sometimes more, never less. he knows if something is missing. quite the goober this boy is}

he is such a boy. last night in the bath he {tooted} and laughed b/c bubbles came up. he looked at me and said "my made bubbles! my farted!" ah geez.

justin (had off today) and was asking ian some questions at breakfast this morning. we were sitting at the table and justin was starting the famous 'lockwood tests'. (in the lockwood family-they give each other 'tests' at the dinner table-random trivia and/or anything that they are learning in school, or what is going on in the world. i shy away when this is going on, but i love that they do it b/c that family is so brilliant! i admire their ability to retain information....) so here's an example of the conversation this morning.
justin: "ian, what is bigger....an elephant or a horse?"
ian: "a elephant"
(us: "yay ian, very good!" -or something along those lines)
justin: "okay what is faster....a {something} or a {something}?" (i have a super good memory)
ian: "neener"
(yup-correct answer!!! ;) 'ian' wasn't one of the answer choices, but how can you argue that he's not the fastest?!?!)
justin: "okay ian, what swims in the water...a bird or a ......"
ian (cutting justin off): "a duck"
justin: "....a seal".
(pretty sure ian dominated justin on that one, too)

i love my little family! i even love days like today. justin had off (like i mentioned before) so ceci woke us up bright and early (she was already in our room) and then when ian woke up, justin got him and we had a lazy morning hanging out in bed. then when it was breakfast time, i made some breakfast tacos (this is when the previous conversation with ian took place), then we played inside. justin had planned on going to ft. huachuca to go play basketball, which he likes to do on his days off. no big deal-i was going to hang out with the kids and put them down for a nap. then i was going to try to scratch a few things off of my to-do list and seriously get stuff done! (as i mentioned before-my sister is coming tomorrow and although i know she doesn't really care what my house looks like-i do!) justin was going to be here in the afternoon so i was going to send them to the park so i could get ms. clingy away and get some more stuff done. well, we all know what happens when we make plans....

justin texted me after about 40 minutes of being gone. (15 minutes to drive there, then stretch, then the game starts. then justin rolls his ankle). uh oh. not what i wanted to hear. i know he's rolled his ankles before, but for his work-it's not good. what if he has to go chase some dude? well, that just won't do. obviously, i was sad that he hurt himself for his own sake. nobody likes that kind of pain! i figured he was somewhat worried about how everything would go down at work. he could get a 'desk-ish' type of job for a few days, but he needs a doctor's note saying he shouldn't be in the field.....so i was bummed for him. and then i was bummed for me. that meant the afternoon/evening would consist of me cleaning everything. me taking care of the kids. justin not taking them to the park. these are things that i'm used to on a normal day and i have no problem with it whatsoever (and on that note i will go ahead and say how GRATEFUL i am that he is a hands-on type of dad and i'm so lucky to have him....big props to all single parents out there...big big big props!). but when i get my mind on something-{character flaw!}, i have a hard time adjusting to that changing. i'm not proud of it, but it's true. and sadly, i'm likely to get more frustrated in situations involving people i love and trust than an acquaintance.

so when the kids woke up from their naps
i had to do an extra load of laundry (since ian took his pull-up off),
then i took them to run a few errands.
we came back-
ceci's hiney got worse.
 she cried.
it was sad.
ian wanted a snack.
then another snack.
and hey, "my want a snack? "
it was time to start dinner
 so i did that.
dinner served/eaten...check!
time to clean up. done (ish)!
bath time. (did i mention it is my dad's birthday? b/c it is! )
skype time with nana, grampy and matthew.
ceci dumps an entire cup of water out of the tub.
super.
i wrap the kids in their towels.
ian is not happy-he doesn't want out of the bath.
i tell him he gets to wear his lightening (mcqueen) pj's. (his favorites)
he doesn't want to wear them.
throws a fit.
let ceci loose momentarily (she still poops often so i don't usually let her run around too long w/o a diaper)
she poops on the floor.
i clean it up (off the floor)
i clean it up (off her butt)
she screams. :(
ian still doesn't want to wear his pjs.
ceci is dressed-wants to nurse.
ian still doesn't want to wear his pjs.
ceci fusses.
ian still doesn't want to wear his pjs.
ceci gets her way.
ian still doesn't want to wear his pjs.
ian wants a diaper and his pjs.
ceci is happy.
i make his bed.
i make our bed.
ceci poops again.
change ceci
ceci's pissed.
i lay ceci down.
i lay ian down.
i finish cleaning the kitchen(ish).
shower.
intend on cleaning more.....
instead-here i am.
happy tuesday!!!

{it's possible i was way more dramatic that i needed to be. most of this stuff doesn't normally phase me at all. unfortunately, today it did! justin really wasn't useless by any means. he got up and wobbled around, changed diapers, corrected the kids, and helped as much as he could....poor guy doesn't even have an ankle right now. it swelled up horribly almost immediately. i know if he had the choice, he would NOT have a swollen ankle right now!!!}

thanks for the rant session. please pray that justin's ankle heals quickly. also thanks for all the amazing prayers for my cousin cody's son, zachary! he is 4 years old and had a procedure on his brain less than a week ago to determine what is causing his seizures and today had the big surgery to take off whatever it is that is causing them.... they said all went well, praise the Lord!!!! prayer is such an amazing thing!

aaaaand happy birthday to my daddy!!!!

thanks to many role models i have....i know that i should (and am) cherishing every single minute of these sweet babies lives. even the stressful ones. i love my family.
