{birthday/texas}
to start december off, we flew to texas to stay with justin's parents! we celebrated cecilia's birthday with the entire lockwood clan. wink, abby, & olivia even flew in from DC! it was a chaotic blast! so great to see everyone and to have that time together. i couldn't believe my baby girl turned one! there was so much going on that i didn't really have time to sit and dwell on it. i was more excited about celebrating with all our amazing family. she had a small and wonderful birthday party. my parents and sister were able to come, justin's best friend and his beautiful wife came, and my bff and her sweet baby dexter got to come. it was perfect! she loved all of her presents (wouldn't you know that her favorite thing was probably a card that sang the mickey mouse song, balloons, and a bracelet...such a girl!) ian loved helping her open the presents, too. all the time we were able to spend with family is always exciting! it was so fun to see the little cousins together. we had ian-2 years, henry-18 months (well almost!), olivia-13 months, and our cecilia-just freshly 1 year old. they all have such sweet personalities and it was awesome to have them together! after several days in denton, we (the kids and i...justin had to come back to arizona to work) headed to columbus. yay! it was too quick. too many people to see, too little time. while we were in town, i was able to see several friends & family, meet my cousin's beautiful baby girl, see my aunt before she went into an extensive surgery to continue to fight any possible cancer (which is now gone, but she's since had to have another surgery and is hopefully on the road to a beautiful recovery!), see my memaw, and both of my kids got to spend some one on one time with my mawmaw and pawpaw (their great grandparents). there was a lot of fun times and bonding! i even got to go to the creek and have a fire with jeff, kalyn, kaysey, morgan, & jaclyn! fun times indeed! the worst part of visiting family is the leaving part. i start to numb up the day before and it's really hard to knock it. i hate leaving. of course i missed justin and was eager to get home. but there is a good amount of my heart that just love love loves being in columbus. ah well, growing up!
so to the next adventure! we got back to denton and i (reluctantly) made the choice to leave ian and cecilia with peter and marisa so i could get back to arizona and help justin move into our new house! we found a rent house right across the street from the neighborhood park! yay! justin and a couple of his friends started moving in on monday, i flew in and hopped right in. this was the first time i had left my kids (except for hospital stays) alone. i knew they would be in great hands, but i was still sad! but it wasn't as bad as i thought it would be! we were so busy getting things out of the apartment and into the house (and a little presentable for the kids!) boy were we happy to get them back! i'm so grateful that peter and marisa were willing to and are able to help us out in these ways. it would have been so challenging to have both babies with us while we were packing and moving. the house is still a work in progress...i got into an overwhelming slump (i didn't know where to start!), so that put a stand still on making it more 'home-like'. once we got our christmas tree, i snapped back into gear and was able to decorate for christmas! yay!
{christmas}
i was so impressed with the kids. they didn't mess with the ornaments (for the most part) or tree at all! ian's christmas highlight was definitely frosty the snowman. it was frosty-all day, all the time. cecilia grew to love him as well. we listened to the song, we watched the movie. ian loved almost all of the christmas carols we heard. i'm still requested to sing the "baby jesus song"-(away in a manger) and "the night song" (silent night)...every night. i love that boy. ceci just dances to the music-it's adorable! .....we got to go see santa again, cecilia about jumped out of her stroller when she saw him and ran right up to him. santa mentioned that he wished our kids were the 'rule' instead of the 'exception'. we'll see what happens next year!........so justin had to work christmas day, but had christmas eve off. so since our kids are so young and don't know the difference, we jumped christmas up to the night before. santa came-it was soo cute! ian asked santa for trains and train tracks. and what do you know? he got a new train track bridge and a new train! ceci got a lot of new toys, too. we had a great day-i got a new camera and justin got new boots! we had a nice dinner and our friend, manny, got to come over and have dinner with us. christmas day (actual christmas day) was a little sad for me...fortunately, it was a sunday so the kids and i went to church and that took up a good amount of the day! overall, it was a wonderful christmas. my favorite part was knowing that ian knows why we celebrate christmas-we even read a book-'the story of christmas' over and over so much that he knew all the words and would end up reading it to me. very impressive, if you ask me! the moral of the book, you ask??? that it was baby Jesus' birthday. ian knew that it was why we celebrate christmas. but that santa also comes and we get presenets :) i love christmas! it's so sad when it's over and the decorations come down......
{a new year}
we had an eventful new year! we went and had dinner, came home, gave baths, put the babies in bed, watched a movie, made it to midnight, then went to sleep. justin woke up the next morning with a high fever and a burning throat. since it was a sunday and new year's day, not much was open, so he waiting until monday to go to the urgent care here (dr offices were still closed on monday), to find out he has tonsilitis. no bueno. so that was an exciting way to start the new year! on top of that, marisa and kate were planning to come visit, so that officially kicked my butt into 'i need to find places for all the crap and i need to decorate' mode. which is fun to do with a sick husband, a busy boy and a clingy daughter. oh well, their rooms are almost-ish done. i still need to update a lot of their pictures, but (like i've said) it's a work in progress.....
{highlights of it all}
-ian has a new dance move (and cecilia has learned it as well)
-ceci talks SO MUCH. copies everything. says "tha thu" (thank you) all the time
-ian and cecilia got new dinosaur banks from nana and grampy for christmas and ian is obsessed with it! he was walking around saying "i want more money. i want BIG money"...(i'm like, yeah, me too, bud, me too!) ha. so now (thanks to my brilliant mother) we are using money as potty incentive. so far it's working! he still fights it a good amount of the time, but will go when he sits down. he knows he gets "2 moneys" when he actually pees, sometimes we offer tatoos and stickers for his potty folder. sometimes he could care less about those, but sometimes he's as excited about them as he is his money.
-ceci is still a stubborn little beautiful girl. she throws fits like none other. making it impossible to wean. yeah i said that. (hey, she's 13 months, not 2!) she is relentless.
-ian knows how to and loves to climb up the slide, then go down the slide on his stomach face first (he says it's how frosty the snowman does it!)
and i'm sure there's so much more, but i can't concentrate anymore.... can't blog and watch criminal minds at the same time! ;)
